As more and more people become dissatisfied with their positions as employees, and with job security now being completely non existent, many people are now looking into the options of working for themselves.
There are many ways to become self employed, with the main ones being;
- Buying a franchise
- Buying a ‘bricks and mortar’ business
- Starting a home based business (eg, lawn mowing, gardening, handyman, house cleaning etc)
- Network Marketing
After my career in the Emergency Services ended, I had several short term, and dissatisfying jobs in the corporate world, and it was these experiences that led me to the realisation that more than anything I wanted to work from home, and be self employed.
I am not against the corporate world, but I knew it was never going to get me to where I wanted to be. Long hours, low pay, and no real passion for what I was doing, made network marketing an easy choice for me.
There are so many network marketing companies to choose from, and it really comes down to personal choice. (To read my blog post on how to choose a network marketing company Click Here )
We are all networkers
Whether you realise it or not, you are already a network marketer.
We all recommend restaurants, movies, mechanics, doctors, and various businesses to our friends, but none of these businesses send us cheques for all the extra business we have referred to them.
Network marketing does. Network marketing is essentially recommending products, and the business opportunity, and then being paid commissions on the people who have joined, or purchased products.
Getting started in network marketing was such a simple thing.
The start-up cost was very inexpensive, especially when compared to any other business, with franchises in particular starting at well over $100,000.
Learning about the company, products, and the compensation plan was done very quickly, and I was up and running in a few days after joining. My products arrived within a week, and that was it, I was in business.
One of the things that really appealed to me about network marketing, was the fact that everything was done for you. There was no managing of staff, no distribution, no need to hold a large amount of stock, and virtually no business expenses.
All of these things are either done by the company, or they can be done via the company website, it couldn’t be easier.
Why it’s a better way to do business
For me, network marketing was a business model that offered so much more than I could find in other businesses.
Having a business that generated residual income, and freed me from having to physically be at a business, was a major influencing factor.
Network marketing offered me the ability to be anywhere in the world, and still be in a position to run my business. In network marketing, your income really is unlimited, and it is just dependant on how hard you’re prepared to work, and how much courage you have to keep going.
If you choose to work hard, your life becomes easy. If you choose to work easy, your life remains hard.
My decision to make the transition from employee to home business owner was definitely one of the best decisions I’ve ever made, and one that I would recommend to anyone with the desire to go after everything they want out of life.
Network marketing can be a tough road, and it’s not all smooth sailing, but if you have the tenacity to just keep going, you will look back on your journey, and realise, it was all worth it.
