If you are in business, you should be leveraging a facebook fan page, to increase your exposure, and also as a way to generate more leads and sales. If you are having trouble working out how to get more engagement on your fan page, these simple tactics should help you see a big change in how much your fans are engaging with you, and your posts.
Engaging Status Updates – What to post?
Your posts should be a mix of pictures, links, videos, and just plain text. When just using words, you can be creative by posting questions that prompt people to give their opinions. e.g. facebook or Twitter? Mac or PC? “If I had to give up..(Blank)..Or..(Blank), I would give up…..”
Give your answer, and why you would choose this, then ask people for their choice, and why. You can ask questions like, “I’m looking to read a new ‘mindset development’ book, any recommendations?” Experiment with what works, and make your posts relevant to what your fan page is about.
Videos can be extremely powerful, they help brand you, and they can create instant engagement.
Keep them short (1 – 2 minutes), relevant, and helpful. Your videos need to stand out, and they should solve a problem. Start off your video stating why someone should watch, and what’s in it for them?
Introductions for your video could be, “In this video I am going to be sharing…….”, or, “You’re probably struggling with…(problem)…….I’m going to be sharing how to..(solution)……so stick around to the end”
At the end of the video, have a Call To Action, it could be a request to click a link, or may be something as simple as, “If you got value from this video, please share it.”
Having a blog is not essential if you’re just starting out, and you can share articles from relevant websites.
As much as you are promoting content from another source, any shares of this post will track back to your fan page. If you have your own blog, share your posts to your fan page, and have a call to action at the end of your blog post.
Posting blog articles to your fan page is a great way to increase traffic to your blog as well. To find ideas for blog articles to use for your posts, use ‘RSS Search Engine’. (If you type, RSS Search Engine into Google, it is the first link that comes up.)
Motivational quotes are a good way to provide variety in your posts, and they also can generate engagement. You can create your own images to go with a quote by using, canva.com. Canva can be downloaded as an app, or you can use it directly through your browser.
Canva allows you to add text and images to pictures, which is a great way to brand these posts as your own, rather than just using Google images. If you’re using motivational posts, personalise them in your status update. Why is it meaningful for you? Why have you posted it?
Never just type the quote in the picture, into your status text. This is lazy, and shows that not only could you not be bothered, but you also have no creative abilities. Show respect for your fans, and give them something to engage with.
- To save time, schedule posts the night before, so they are posted regularly throughout the day.
- Schedule 3 – 6 posts for each day.
- Each morning and evening, respond to comments/questions/other engagement on your page, and posts.
- Have 1. ‘Page Post ad’ (Boosted post) running for your page to generate engagement, and 1. ‘Likes’ ad running as well for new likes. (You only need a small budget to do this. By utilising information in ‘Insights’ on your fan page, you will start to work out what works best).
Engagement is vital for your business, and if you put in consistent focused effort into your fan page, you will see an increase in your business as well. Remember, your fans have liked your page, because they resonate with what you do, you can show your appreciation by giving back as much as you can, and watch the engagement, and your ‘page likes’ take off.
