Knowing how to have posture can make a significant difference in the success you achieve in business, and how you are perceived by other people, but many people misunderstand exactly what this means.
Do you find that people tend to not take you seriously in your business?
Are you often ‘messed around’ by the people you are trying to prospect?
Are you lacking confidence in your business dealings?
If you are experiencing these types of things, you need to change your whole approach. In today’s article, I will teach you how to have posture, and how to gain a lot more respect in your business.
How To Have Posture
Having posture does not mean being arrogant, or rude, and it doesn’t mean being dismissive towards people. What it does mean is, taking yourself seriously, being professional, and being in control of your own business activities.
If you want to learn how to have posture, you need to change your mindset, and how you behave. Most people lack posture because they are not confident enough, and because they do not have enough experience.
You must change what you are prepared to tolerate, and you must do this consistently. Your self belief needs to be raised to a point where you can confidently have business dealings with people, and remain in control of what’s happening.
Robert Kiyosaki once talked about his early days in business. He had made an appointment to see a prominent businessman at a specified time, and he was five minutes late to this appointment. When he arrived he spoke with the receptionist, and she informed him, that the person he was to meet with had left.
She further explained that this person’s time was extremely valuable, and he was not going to waste his time with someone who didn’t respect that. Robert managed to make another appointment with this man, and he was never late to another one of his meetings again.
Although this may seem like an over-reaction from the businessman, it is undeniable that this man certainly had posture, and I’m sure everyone who dealt with him was well aware of the significance of this.
How Do People Perceive You?
This may be a tough question to face, but it is one that you must ask yourself, and you must answer it honestly.
Are YOU serious and professional about what you’re doing?
Are YOU someone who deserves to be taken seriously, based on how you conduct your business?
Are YOU all talk and no action?
Really be honest with yourself, and then make the changes that need to be made. Be real, and raise your level of professionalism. It is just a matter of making a firm decision, and committing to it.
When I talk about how to have posture, I do not mean, ‘Fake it ’til you Make it.” I personally hate this saying, and if people in your Network Marketing company are telling you to do this, be very wary.
The reason I dislike this saying so much is, it conjures up images of deceit and dishonesty, and I do not think it is good advice. It is the equivalent of someone who tells you that they are doing one thing, but what they are actually doing in reality is completely opposite. DON’T be this person.
Being organised in your business is a great way to increase your posture. Organise your schedule, maintain a diary, be professional when you are messaging people, and consistently perform activities in your business that will actually move your business in a positive direction.
If you are new to Network Marketing, and you are yet to achieve any results, that’s OK. You can still have posture, and you can still be honest. Let people know you are serious about what you are doing, and they are a lot more likely to take you seriously.
There is a saying, “We train people how to treat us!” This is very true. Take a stand, work out How you want people to treat you, and then change what you will tolerate, and change how you conduct yourself. It won’t take long before people start treating you differently.
